Foster Care Management

Foster Care Manager

Beloved Rabbits relies on a foster care network to look after the rabbits in our care and get them ready for adoption.

Foster Care Managers are responsible for recruiting and maintaining volunteer Foster Carers and Rabbit co-ordinators within the team.

  • Volunteer Foster Carers work from their own home where they provide space and time to care for Beloved Rabbits allocated placements whilst permanent homes are identified.
  • Rabbit Co-ordinators are allocated a small group of foster carers. The co-ordinators will require regular, weekly communication with these foster carers to gather information about the rabbit’s progress to adoption (vaccination, neuter, microchip and health check). Rabbit Co-ordinators should also gather information about ongoing health concerns and treatment, the personality of the rabbits and facts.

The role of the Foster Care Manager is to manage the teams of co-ordinators and foster carers to ensure the safe care and logistical arrangements necessary to support the charity’s rescue, rehoming and adoption activities.

Foster Care Managers, with support from Rabbit Co-ordinators, are responsible for ensuring accurate records for each rabbit by entering the information gathered from foster carers into Shelter Manager.

In addition they will co-ordinate any collation of vet history required from owner’s vets at the time of surrender to the rescue.

You will also join our charity's Management Team, giving you an opportunity to get involved in various aspects of our activities and our strategy as we strive to address the rabbit welfare crisis in Scotland.  As well as support from across the whole management team, we meet as a team every 2 to 3 months to work through the key issues and strategy of the charity and ensure that every aspect of what we do is running is as smoothly as possible.

Care Team Manager

Care Team Manager

Our Care Team Manager will work closely with the charity's Rescue Director to ensure the day-to-day management and standards are maintained within our rescue centre, The Hoppy Hub.

Most of our rabbits are cared for in foster homes throughout Central Scotland, but The Hoppy Hub provides essential support facilities allowing us:

  • Additional rescue space to supplement the foster care network.
  • Emergency and foster holiday-cover facilities
  • Our popular Bonding Support Service - The Bonding Bootcamp

As our Care Team Manager, you will

  • ensure that rabbit care standards are trained and maintained throughout our rabbit care team.
  • Support team members to ensure a full rota of cover is maintained across our morning and evening care shifts.
  • Contribute to the development of volunteer hands-on training experience, in conjunction with our Education Managers, research and content team.

It would be expected that you would take part in the rota as one of our Care Leads, covering one of our weekly 2 hour shifts as part of your role.  This would give an excellent opportunity to understand, hands-on, what is involved and give you an opportunity to lead by example.

Full training & support will be given for the role.

Assistant Manager

Assistant Manager

We are looking for new volunteers to join us as we expand our Management Team / Committee.

Our 'Assistant Manager' Role is aimed at individuals who have time, passion and dedication to get involved in supporting the running of the charity, but do not wish to take on the responsibility for a specific function/area of our work.

As an Assistant Manager, you will be more generalised and able to step into various areas to offer additional support - wherever the gap is you can step in to assist.

You will pick up leadership responsibilities for individual tasks, and would be expected to be able to take a task and run with it.

Examples of what you would be doing include:

  • Organising a specific social or fundraising one-off event
  • Picking up an administrative duty that's required to ensure our legal, charitable or social obligations are met
  • Providing cover for another manager when they are on a break
  • Support with shifts at the Hoppy Hub (either regularly or for adhoc cover)
  • Short-term support for charity areas when workloads require it

It's likely the role will vary, and you will get an opportunity to 'dip your toe' into various aspects of our work.

You will never be forced to do something you are not comfortable with, and as we all work as a team you have a mountain of support around you too.

Whilst you wouldn't have primary responsibility for any specific charity function/area, you would be otherwise an equal within the management team and share responsibility for our decision-making and strategic planning and will be invited to take part in our regular management team meetings (every 2 or 3 months, depending on overall commitments and charity needs).
