Indoor Cage Amnesty

Untitled (2)

The recommended space requirement for pet rabbits is access to a minimum environment of 3m x 2m 24/7.

From our experience, Indoor Cages, such as those commonly sold online and via pet stores, encourage people to consider limiting space in an unacceptable manner, which is detrimental to the well-being of the rabbits concerned.

Sadly we see rabbits suffering from numerous conditions that are a direct result of limited space.

We want to see these indoor cages completely removed from all rabbit environments!

Upgrade your rabbits' environment inline with the latest recommendations, then bring your old indoor cage parts and we will give you a discount of up to 25% off purchases of rabbit food, bedding, treats and toys from the Beloved Rabbits shop.

Surrender Your Cage Top
15%

We believe that the top of the indoor cage is the most harmful part of this equipment.  Typically made of metal bars, or occasionally made of plastic, the top include the door panels.  It encourages owners to consider locking their rabbits into a very small space, often for long periods of time that a rabbit would generally want to be active such as dusk and dawn.

Keep your base and re-use it as a large litter tray, bed or food base in a bigger environment.

Surrender your cage top for a discount of products in our shop.  We will arrange for the cage tops to be recycled for purposes other than caging animals.

Surrender the cage top and bottom for a larger discount of products in our shop.

We will refurbish the cage bottom and sell it for use as an environment litter tray, bed or food base.

We will arrange to recycle the cage top for purposes other than caging animals.

There is no qualifying criteria for this amnesty which is open to all rabbit owners who wish to surrender an indoor rabbit cage.

You do not need to have adopted rabbits from us, or to have used any of our other services and products before.

Individuals surrendering equipment at the time of surrendering rabbit(s) to the service are not eligible for the Indoor Cage Amnesty.

This offer is only available to Indoor Cage products that could conceivably have been sold as "Rabbit Cages".

As a guide we would consider this any indoor cage with a length measurement between 100cm and 180cm, and height of less than 75cm (per level).

We retain the right, at manager's discretion, to exclude any product being surrendered which we believe has not been sold or used for the purposes of housing rabbits.

Discounts are limited to one per individual/household.

For the purposes of this amnesty, multi-level cages are considered a single item only.

Discounts are limited to one per individual/household.

Discounts apply only to rabbit food, bedding, toys, treats and accessories sold within the Beloved Rabbits Shop.

Products must be bought in one transaction at the time of surrendering your cage parts.

Products remain subject to availability.

You may only surrender your rabbit if you have submitted a rehoming request and a space within the rescue has been offered to you.

Individuals surrendering equipment at the time of surrendering rabbit(s) to the service are not eligible for the Indoor Cage Amnesty.

We cannot approve homes for adoption that are relying on the use of indoor cages, even if it is as part of a wider environment.

You may be asked as part of your adoption to surrender your equipment as a mandatory requirement of your adoption.

Your adoption will be cancelled if you attempt to collect your reserved rabbit(s) without bringing the required cage equipment.

You are still entitled to the shop discount as well, and may purchase products in our shop at the time of your appointment.

We believe the cage bases can be reused effectively within an environment as a large litter tray, bed or food base.

On their own, they don't represent the same risk to rabbits as an enclosed cage might.

Therefore we are not offering a discount for surrendering cage bases on their own.

You are welcome to donate these items to us, and we will refurbish them and sell them for use in larger rabbit environments as a litter tray, bed or food base.  Please simply bring your item during our normal opening hours.

We do not encourage the use of these dog cages within rabbit environments, and would still encourage you to remove them from your setup and consider alternatives.

Dog cages are useful for bonding activities, offering a controlled, neutral environment for bonding introductions.

As these dog cage products serve additional purposes, they are not currently included within our discount offer.

At this time our amnesty offer is restricted to indoor cage environments only.

This is mainly due to lack of facilities for managing the surrender and disposal of outdoor equipment.

We recommend contacting your local authority about suitable disposal methods for unwanted outdoor equipment.

If there is minor damage to the cage, such as a missing clip or small crack, but it does not prevent its potential use as a rabbit cage, we would still accept this as the intention of the amnesty is to remove indoor cages from being used for housing rabbits.

If the damage is such that is not realistically able to be used for housing rabbits, it would not be considered as a qualifying cage and may be excluded from the discount offer.

We retain the right, at the manager's discretion, to exclude any product being surrendered that we believe no longer has the potential to be used to house rabbits.
